Students Corner

The Students Corner is dedicated to educational and musical fun on the Internet for students of all ages. Here you will find websites for orchestras, theory websites and music games on the Internet for young students. Many, many thanks to the Music Teachers National Association for allowing Jon Michael Iverson to merge their list here!

Student Performer Websites

The From the Top website is designed for young classical musicians. This clever website has: The Green Room, Hall of Fame, Answer Zone, Student Lounge, a Reference Room and an area for parents and teachers. Partnered with the highly successful From the Top radio program, this site offers the more "serious" young musicians an opportunity to hear from others like them and benefit from socialization of sorts with others like themselves.

JazzKids was created for children of all ages. The website offers teachers, parents and even the youngest students the opportunity to be introduced to jazz. The interactive audio, video and curriculum are not intended to replace a teacher!

Encyclopedias and Exhibits

This Instrument Encyclopedia is a sampler of some of the world's most interesting musical instruments. This website from the University of Michigan gives visitors a chance to browse instruments by their country of origin or by their instrument family. This site also has an instrument glossary, information about instrument collections in North America, and playback samples from select instruments.

This site at Exploratorium.com is really, really cool. With online exhibits dealing with creating percussion loops, exotic musical instruments and a unique Q&A, this site is definitely worth checking out! A great site for middle school age students and older.
